Composition And Use Of Personal Defense Sprays

Posted under self defense by Joe Davidson

Effective self defense tools are essential for personal safety. Especially in many urban areas, having a useful and readily available method of defense brings peace of mind to day to day living. In some cases, it can help the user avoid becoming the victim of a violent attack. The chemical that makes self defense spray effecive is a derivative of pepper capsacian and is made useful by aerosol dispersal.

Self defense spray or pepper spray is legal and does not require a permit to carry, however, some states have some restrictions regarding size and/or OC concentration. Always check with your state before purchasing a pepper spray.

Because the OC defense sprays are extremely inflammatory, they cause the eyes to shut, the throat to swell causing uncontrollable choking, intense burning sensations to the face and skin, and the nose to run. These symptoms are quite painful to a would-be-attacker. This makes pepper sprays with OC very effective self defense weapons.

Self Defense and Pepper sprays are effective self defense weapons. However care must be taken to only use it when you are confronting a credible threat to your health or safety.

Based on years of experience, we recommend the following tips when carrying and using self defense or pepper sprays.

1. Always hold the dispenser upright in your hand and place the thumb on the top of the spray while being careful to point the dispensing end away from you. Keeping the dispenser handy is key to being prepared for a potential attack.

2. When confronting a threat, aim the spray at the attackers eyes and face. Then move it in a figure 8 motion while retreating away from the assailant.

3. Ensure that you get the spray into the mouth and eyes. Even if the stream does not halt the assault it may will slow the attacker down to allow one to escape the situation. Of course contact law enforcement by dialling 911 immediately.

Pepper and defense sprays can be disguised in a number of clever packaging ways. Some appear to be lipstick cases, cellular telephones and as key chains. However, make sure to acqire a spray containing the \”OC\” chemical. Other types may be advertised as \’effective\’ but OC is proven to work when it matters most.

Pepper spray is an effective self defense weapon, however care must be taken to recognize a credible threat before using it for self defense reasons.

The right to remain silent

Posted under Legal Self Defense Articles by seolink

A young prison escapee had a few old time crooks rolling their eyes by publishing his exploits on Facebook.  21 year old Justin Grant gave correctional officers the slip last week after being taken to Townsville Hospital with a hand injury he suffered when he punched a brick wall.  But within days of his escape he was flaunting his freedom on Facebook, and confirming a host of new friends, including a Townsville club, on his social networking website.  His friends tally jumped to 114 (from 90) within 3 days of his escape, with posted comments of “Go Justin, go, three days and still going”

The same enthusiasm is not shared by the old timers.  “He might be still going after three days,” one opined to me this week, “but if he keeps blabbing like that he won’t make three weeks, that’s for sure” .

A code of silence ruled the underworld before the days on the information revolution.  It was said that loose lips sink ships, and most reasoned to the effect of “if you say nothing, nothing you say was likely to be held against you” .

For some it was almost a matter of personal honour.  A police suggestion outrages one of my clients when they said he had confessed to the theft of a lorry load of men’s designer suits .  It wasn’t the probable penalty troubling him, it was the damage to his reputation.  He protested with righteous indignation of “Anyone who knows me knows I’m solid as a brick.” .  “If I was a clock I wouldn’t tell the time.  The only ones I’ll talk to are me lawyer, me missus, and me priest.”

It wasn’t that he was particularly spiritual, I don’t think he had too many close friends in the law, and the truth is he and his wife hadn’t spoken much in years.  This was just a bush lawyer’s summary of his reason of the laws of privilege and confidentiality.

In those days, the confession of a man to his wife, lawyer or priest, was protected by law, and could not be led against him in evidence in court.  It was predicated on the notion that full and frank disclosure between a man and his wife, a sinner and his God, and a lawyer and his client, made for a better functioning community.

In the aim of sharpening the teeth of crime investigation,  the federal governments have been steadily chipping away at the right to silence over the years.

Husbands and wives are not only able, but obliged, to give evidence against their spouses, since the 2004 Queensland statute law .  In a recent closed hearing of the Australian Crime Commission, the Federal Court Ruling that didn’t apply to a wife who refused to testify against her husband..  The ACC Act fell short when the court said if the legislature wanted to abolish someone’s right to stay schtumm, it had to do so in the clearest terms.

Ironically, Justin Grant was apparently relinquishing his own right to silence, publishing news of his exploits on the internet.  Go figure.

Why Would You Need 72 Hour Survival Kits? Ask Your Kids

Posted under Legal Self Defense Articles by seolink

72 hour survival kits could mean the difference between life and death of you and your family in a disaster. There are many kinds of disasters and emergencies: fires, hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, and tornadoes. The government response plan for a major disaster is three to seven days to begin providing crews to the zone. 72 hours is three days – it would be prudent to put together a survival kit that would support you for ten to twelve days.

Instead of dismissing this type of planning immediately; remember the kind of disasters that happened in the past 20 years. Consider what one of these disasters would be like if you had nothing with you but what you were wearing. Even worse, consider the elderly or children that are in your care and how they would do. To ease your mind, start creating your emergency kits now.

Before you start packing or buying anything, think about what the most likely disaster scenario is based upon where you are. This will lead to what you plan to do in the case of an emergency. For example, if your house is close by the coast and the most probable disaster is a hurricane, then your plan should include packing your car with what you need and driving to safety. If you live in a city then it is most likely that you will be walking to a safe place either because you have no vehicle or the roads will be so jammed that walking is the only option. If you live in a relatively protected area inland, then you will probably stay in your home.

Even though you should prepare for the most likely scenario, you should also have a backup plan. There may come a time in your life when you have to leave the area as fast as possible, and you will be uncertain as to what help and support you will get while traveling. That is when you should have one of these kits ready to go.

Plan 72 hour kits for every person in your family. Start by getting a rucksack that is a size and capacity that the person can carry all day. You do not have to buy the backpack to start putting together the items of the kit, however. Choose two complete sets of rugged clothes that you no longer wear, but would serve well in an emergency. Then plan on what you are going to need for food, water, and shelter, and buy it. Pack light so you can carry it all.

Start planning now, and be prepared for when disaster strikes.

A 72 hour kit is easy to put together. See how to do it at 72 hour survival kits.

600,000 Volt Stun Gun Stunt

Posted under stungun by admin

2 600,000 Volt Stun Gun StuntUPDATE::: I’ve added a new stun gun video. It has several NEW types of stun guns. They range from 60,000 to 950,000 volts.

Okay, if you don’t think this is really 600,000 volts…you’re wrong, it is. I’ve had many people tell me it’s not and compare this to police tasers. I’ve done research on this people, it DOES send 600,000 volts to you. The thing to remember is it’s a stun gun, not a taser. Here are two links that will explain why Tom isn’t dead after being shocked for that long.

LINK the explains ALL you need to know on stun guns, tasers, and liquid tasers::: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/stun-gun.htm

First Link: http://www.airtaserandstungunstore.com/relatedinfo/faq-stunguns.shtml
Second Link: http://www.factsfinder.com/products/stunguntaser.htm

Now please, just enjoy the video and stop telling me it’s not 600,000 volts…I have backed up my claim. Send me something to prove me wrong if you want. You can’t beat facts.

OK, so we got my friend Tom to test out a stun gun that holds 600,000 VOLTS! He’s shocked over and over for your amusement…AND we wanted to see the power of a stun gun. Let’s face it, TV doesn’t show what REALLY happens. In my option, the stun gun is good for a quick hit and run…Hit them with it’s power and then run. Or you could always stay there and hold the button down.

Mike Elliot is the one opening the package. Creg Denson is the one saying “This is your brain on drugs.” The others making comments in the background are no body important.
